Rev. Barbara Wiechel

Senior Pastor

Rev. Barbara Wiechel is an ordained elder in the West Ohio Conference of The United Methodist Church. She grew up in Tipp City, Ohio, and graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in English. She is also a graduate of the Methodist Theological School in Ohio, with a Master of Divinity and a Master of Arts in Liturgical Arts. Upon graduation in 1999, Rev. Wiechel received the Matey Janata Freedwomen Award for a paper dealing with women’s issues in a significant way, and the Hoyt Hickman Award for high-quality scholarship in the study of liturgy and leadership in Christian worship. She has served Eleazer UMC in Greene County, Lagonda UMC in Springfield, Ohio, and Fairview UMC in Dayton.
Pastor Barbara owned and operated a picture framing business in South Towne Centre for twenty years before attending seminary. Her husband David, is a retired attorney, a retired elder in the West Ohio Conference, and a retired worker from the City of Dayton. They will celebrate their fiftieth anniversary in August, 2020. They have three sons who were raised in Kettering. Ben lives in Hamilton, Ohio with grandson Ronnie (5). Jeremy is a resident of Phoenix, Arizona. Dan and wife Shanna live in St. Louis Missouri, with Madeline (15) and Isabelle (11).
